Revenues Pledge goal: As currently configured, the pledge goal is only fractionally up from last year’s goal (0.5%), but 6% higher than the amounts actually pledged last year. Memorial Fund transfer: Last year, we budgeted a transfer of approx. 3% of the Memorial Fund balance. The $5,000 increase reflects the increased size of the Memorial Fund, due to good investment returns, some gifts, and minimal expenses from that fund during the past fiscal year. To the extent that Memorial Fund income exceeds 3%, that excess return will be retained by the Memorial Fund for other current and future capital needs. Other income. The budgeted total of $20,000 assumes at least $5,000 from traditional sources (e.g, tower lighting and rental of building by outside groups), significant profits from the Scrip program, additional revenues from scheduled and unscheduled fundraising activities (e.g., book sale), and a material allocation from the 2010 Country Fair profit.
Expenses Expense allowance for Associate Pastor: Recommended by Diaconate (and approved by Council) to increase Donna’s annual continuing education allowance from $1000 to $2000. Acting Director of Christian Education: The Council approved a restoration of this position from 10 hours per week to 20, with an increase in cost to $18,500. This position will continue to be treated as an “Acting Director”, pending further strategic analysis of the church’s longer term staffing plan. Board & Committee allocations reflect direct requests from each group. A $1,000 allocation for the Search Committee is added this year. Building Maintenance is increased to more accurately reflect the ongoing cost of maintaining our aging building. This item includes a new $1000 allocation for a maintenance contract for a recently upgraded heating system
