Stewardship Seminar on Wills
February 21, 2009

Ken Kelley, a nationally known attorney from West Suffield specializing in wills and trusts, presented the first seminar on financial planning to Stewardship on Saturday February 21.

Ken's presentation was very informative and illuminated many aspects of the need to have a proper will and possibly the creation of a Trust supporting the will.

He emphasized the importance of having a well thought out document so that you, rather than the State, can direct how and to whom your estate will be conveyed upon your death.

Emphasis was placed on having a properly constructed Trust Agreement in tandem with a will in order to more finely tune the distribution of your assets.

The session was very informal and comfortable. Participants felt free to ask pointed questions as the presentation continued. The seminar went beyond simple wills and afforded the participants an exposure to the many avenues that can be travelled in planning an estate.

Financial planning is an extremely important part of living. The Stewardship committee hopes that other members of our Congregation will attend future sessions as they develop.

The next program is on Planned Giving/Life Insurance. It will be led by Theodore (Ted) Affleck on March 28th, 2009.

Ken will be back in May to further expand the subject of Trusts.
