“Bringing Hope Home” is a video produced by Back Bay Mission, an 86-year- old community ministry of the United Church of Christ which debuted at the Campus Recovery Celebration Weekend on October 2-4. On August 25, 2005, Hurricane Katrina struck the Mississippi Gulf Coast, causing unprecedented damage, including the loss of five out of the six buildings on the Mission’s property, located in Biloxi, MS. After the waters receded, and the staggering losses assessed, so much seemed hopeless. Soon, though, through the work of the staff and the support of many UCC churches around the country (including RHCC), Back Bay began its work once again – working to serve the poor and marginalized. Over the last four years, the Mission has continued its direct service, housing rehab, homeless advocacy and placement, and initiated an affordable housing project. The Mission has truly brought hope home again to many people on the Gulf Coast and looks ahead to a future sharing compassion and justice to all God’s children. Further information can be found on the Mission’s website: www.thebackbaymission.org.
